Welcome to 1st semester Library Media Aides

This year, you will write at least one paragraph every night that you had a Library Media Aide class during the day. The purpose for this assignment is to strengthen your descriptive writing skills and provide a record for yourself, your parents and for me about what you do each day during this class. I prefer a well-written, correctly spelled descriptive record of what you did during your Library Media Aide class. This blog participation is one rubric for this class. The more that you write the higher your grade will be in the class.

Today started odd, Mrs.Roof wasn't in the libary when we came in. Eventruly she came in and we started to help a class. Then Mrs.Roof left to go work in the Tech-Lab.

Today we checked in a bunch of books. Then we started putting books together. I caught a break to blog later on in the day.

Most of the time I was alone because Micheal and Timothy ditched me but nI don't care because I still get to blog. Today in media aid we checked in books and put them away. After that we stamped books and put magnitize strips in the books also. And thats about it.

Then the girls had to shelve all of the fiction books. Then I had to shelve all of the reference books, and thank you Ms.Roof for helping me shelve them. That's what I did in media aide today.

Today in Media Aide we checked in books and put them away on the shelves where they belong. Then Mikayla and I stamped and magnetized books while Kaylee and Hayley put away these heavy books. After that we put away books that were on the non-fiction shelves.

Today we checked in the books, then we organized the book notices, then we put the notices in the teachers mailboxes. There was a soda machine and candy machine in the mailroom. I wanted to bust into the soda machine. :-)

Today was Monday and the beginning of a long week. Only one thing could have made this day worse, and that was doing the hardest thing in media aid. Ms. Roof had us cover books! So I nervously began covering books. Although I did not do perfectly, I noticed some slight progress in my technique and concentration. Now I know the saying "practice makes perfect." I am slowly getting better!

Today in Media Aide we put away a lot of books. Then we went in the back room and stamped, magnetized, laminated, and put book covers on books. That took up the whole period/class so we didn't have enough time to blog in Media Aide.

Today in Media Aide, we checked in books and put them away. After that, we all went into the back room and started working on different things. Kaylee and I were putting covers on books, Mirina was covering books, and Hayley was stamping books and putting strips in them.

Today was my first time I put covers on books. It was alot harder than it looked. For a first timer i did pretty well.

Today Tim and I had to stamp. Tim and I are very good at stamping. We managed to finish with 30 minutes left in class on a TCT day!
Then we got to blog in class.

Today was Wednesday so we were on a short schedule. Ms. Roof had us work in the back room and stamp a lot of books. While Mary checked for strips in the books. Michael and I took a long time stamping books, but you cant blame us that was a lot of books!

Right now I am kind of mad because I just blogged and the computer did not accept it. Anyways, today was Friday so I wanted the day to be over. During class Ms. Rood had us tidy up the library for the 7th grade guest speaker, who was a survivor of the "Holocost". Who I also admired today, because now I feel the pain of those who were not as fortunate as her. Before she came in Ms. Roof had us put call number stickers on a lot of books, this took us through the whole period. What a way to finish off the week.

Today in Media Aide we checked in books and put them away on the shleves they belong on. Then Mikayla, Hayley and Kaylee put away the newer books thatwere set out on the book cart, on the shelves they belonged on while I went to the back room and labled the books that needed labeling. Then the girls came in the back room and helped me put labels and tape the books that needed labeling ant taping.

Today in media aid we spine labels on books. Then a holocaust survivor came in so our day was pretty much over. So we listened to the womens stories.

Today we put spine labels on the books spines. Mrs. Roof did not hang out wiith us so we were by oursevles.Then we did more taskes every once in a while.

Today was just the start of our Thanksgiving Break. In class Ms. Roof had us first put spine labels on a couple of books. This did not take a long time, but of course we had more work. We finished off class by puting different genre stickers on a lot of books. Now I just want to get out of here!

Today in Media Aide we checked in books and put them away. There were a lot of books to put away! The last thing we did was highlight the over due book slips, which there were a lot of them and mostly we had to put "Detention Soon. Return Books" on them because they were so over due like one was due on February 22, 2007 (that's crazy)!

Today felt great to finally be back in media aid after a lond Fall Break. Too bad Ms. Roof had us work on a huge and long project. It required all three of us to do a seperate job. One had to tape the books, one had to write the books author, and one had to put spine labels on books. Lucky me, I got to put the spine labels on books. Although my job was made easier because the books were put in alphabetical order. The only thing that was hard about it was when a book did not have a spine label, it slowed down the whole system. The project took us through the whole class period

Then Mrs. Herelle's class came in to explore the library and check out a fiction book for their book report due in five weeks. My brother and his friends kept asking me for help even though they didn't need it because they were trying to bug me and distract me from my work as a Media Aide assistant, but it was cool that I got to help his class check out books and help them locate their books.

Today was a friday and we were having a special guest speaker. Before she came we had to set up the library for her. She told us amazing storys about the holocaust. Today was a great friday.

11-25-08
Today was the day before Thanksgiving Day and everyone wanted to get on break. We had to put spine labes on books for most the period. At the end of the day we finished all the work. Today was a long day.

12-2-08
Today was the first media aid since break. We had to do more long work for Mrs. Roof. It took forever. At the end of the period we hadn't even finished. This was another long day.

12-4-08
Today was weird, we didn't have a teacher all day. We just took care of the kids in the libary and blogged a little. Today was super fun!

First we checked in some books and then Ms. Whickel's class came in and we helped them check out books. Finally, Ms. Roof came back and she had us put spine labels on books and then tape them. Today in media Mrs.Roof and the sub was gone but we acted responsibly. We checked out books for 5th graders and we renewed, checked in, and but magnizting strips in books. It was a long day!

Today in Media Aide Kaylee and I were the only ones there, of course Ms. Roof was there, but Haylie and Mikayla were absent. Kaylee, Ms. Roof and I spent the whole class period checking in books and putting them away. On the fiction cart, there were three rows of fiction books and on the non- fiction cart, there were two rows of non- fiction books.

Today in class we had a substitube because Ms. Roof was not here. We had to just organize our shelves and check in some books. We then had to make more room for books by puting books on tops of shelves. In class Ms. Sweeney's ans Ms. May's class came in, so we helped them check out books. This was agood class.

Last Wednesday in Media Aide, we checked in books. Then a class came in. We helped them find the books they were looking for.

Today, I was absent. I was sick so I didn't go to school. Therefore I couldn't go to Media Aide.

Today in Media Aide, we had a sub. Then we checked in books. Then we got to go on the computers.

I walked in one second late, and Niki, Lucas and Mrs. Duben were already were checking in books, so I had to magnatize them. Then Mrs. Whitney's 6th grade class came in, for there country reprts. And so we don't bother them Mrs. Duben gave us freetime for the rest of the period.

12-5-08 Today I was absent, I got my cast taken off and it was funny and hard to walk. I stayed home to rest and did nothing. I got bored. that was what I did when I was absent.
12-9-08 Today in media aide we had a substitute, Ms. Dubin. We checked in books then magnitized them, then put them away. Next we had nothing else to do so she let us work on studing and work. Then I worked on some math work. That is what I did in media aide today.

Today in Media Aide we checked in books and put them away back on the right bookshelves that they belonged on. After we were done with putting away the books, we started cutting the over due book slips in half because there was two over due notices together on one paper and once we cut the late notices, we highlighted the books that were over due on the slips and put "Late book, Detention Soon" or it was something like that, but I forgot what we wrote on the slips. The last thing Mikayla, Kaylee and I did was put title covers on the books that needed clear cover title protection while Hayley tried to find barcodes and labels for the books and by the time we were done with all of these things, it was time ti go to period seven.

Today Ms. Roof was finally back, so we were back in the routine of things. It was all me and Micheal today, since Mary got to video tape the Long Drive presentation. Ms. Roof had us work in the back room and put spine labels and call numbers on a couple of books. We got this done pretty quickly and now were blogging early. Hard work really does pay off.

10-10-08 Today Miss. Roof was not here again and it was yet another sad day. So first we checked in books then yet again we reorganised the shelfs. We also watched little kids again to make sure they did not mess them up.

10-12-08 Today Miss. Roof was finnally here today witch made my day even better. All we did was go on the computers then watch the Geography bee. Cameran won and im very happy about it. That was all we did.

Today in Media Aide, Kalyee was absent, so there were only three media aides. First we checked in books and put most of them away, but then Ms. Dewberry's eigth grade AEP class came in, so we couldn't put some of the books away. Then we had to make more room for the books on the books shelves, so we took about 15 books out from where they belonged and put them on top of the book shelf, and while two girls did that, I would take a couple of pictures of Mrs. Roof and Mrs. Dewberry teaching the eigth grade class.

Nicky wasn’t here so it took a little longer to do some of the work. I had to magnetize and help Lucas test the books. And then I had to do the power point while Lucas helped Mrs. Roof do something with pictures and also he had to put tape over books for some reason. And now a class just came in and we have free time for the rest of the period.

We ran out and had to put less then we normally do becuse every teacher needed one. Then we did power point for the boys basketball team. It was a good day over all thougb.

Today was a geat day in media aid and just can't wait until Christmas Break. Ms. Roof had us go into the backroom and help Ms. Lynn. She had us put a certain number of papers in the teachers' mailboxes. We got done with this quickly and had run out of papers. So we went back into the library and Ms. Roof had us do some things on the power point. We got done with that and we got to blog early. Today was a very busy class!

Today in Media Aide, it was a TCT day, so we only had a little bit of time in class to do what we needed to do. First we had to check in books, which there was a lot! That took us most of the period, so in the last 15 minutes, we cut out bookmarks for students after they checked out books, plus we got snickers from Mrs. Roof because we might not see her on Friday because it will be our last day at Madison Meadows until winter break.

Today was Thursday and the last day of Media aid before the end of the year. So Ms. Roof gave us candy,but we still had to work a lot. We first checked in a few books which did not take long. Then Ms. Roof had us cut over due book papers, and we then highlighted the very over due books. We finished up by puting them in the teachers boxes. We got to blog early, and this was a great class!

Today was my last day but I had alot of work. We had to cut the overdue logs out and then organize them then put them in boxes. Then I read at the counter because I like to read.
